This Privacy Policy explains how Spotnik ("Spotnik", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Spotnik mobile app and related services (the "Service"). Spotnik is a gym-buddy matchmaking app that helps you discover and connect with workout partners near you. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account & contact information. Your email address, used for passwordless sign-in via a one-time code (OTP) and for account-related messages.
- Profile details. Information you choose to add to your profile, such as your date of birth (used only to compute and display your age — we never share your date of birth with other users), gender, workout styles, experience level, training schedule, gym, and bio.
- Photos. The profile photos you upload. These are shown to other users as part of discovery and matching.
- Location data. Your approximate and/or precise location, used to show you people nearby and to compute distance. You can control location permissions in your device settings; disabling location may limit core discovery features.
- Chat content. Messages you send and receive with your matches, so we can deliver and display your conversations.
- Usage & device data. Information about how you interact with the Service and technical data such as device type, operating system, app version, and diagnostic/log data.
- Purchase data. Records of your subscriptions and in-app purchases. Payments are processed by Apple and Google; we do not collect or store your full payment card details.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide matching and discovery — show you nearby users that fit your preferences, and surface your profile to others.
- Operate core features — enable likes, matches, and 1:1 chat between matched users.
- Trust & safety — detect, investigate, and act on violations of our Terms of Service, including reports of objectionable content or abusive behavior, and to keep the community safe.
- Billing — process and manage subscriptions, consumable purchases, restores, and entitlements.
- Communicate with you — send sign-in codes, service and transactional messages, and (where enabled) push notifications for new matches, messages, and likes.
- Improve and secure the Service — understand usage, troubleshoot, and protect against fraud and abuse.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information in the following limited ways:
- With other users. Your profile (photos, age, gender, bio, workout details, and approximate distance) is visible to other users as part of the matchmaking experience. Messages are visible to the match you send them to.
- With service providers / processors who handle data on
our behalf, including:
- Cloudflare R2 — secure storage and delivery of uploaded photos.
- Resend — delivery of transactional email, including one-time sign-in codes.
- RevenueCat, together with Apple and Google — processing and management of subscriptions and in-app purchases.
- Push notification services (Apple Push Notification service and Google/Firebase Cloud Messaging) — delivery of push notifications to your device.
- For legal reasons. When required to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Spotnik, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, or enforce our agreements. Backups and logs may persist for a limited time before being overwritten.
5. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise many of these directly in the app:
- Account & data deletion. You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app. This action is irreversible.
- Edit your profile. You can review and update your profile information and photos in the app at any time.
- Permissions. You can manage location and notification permissions in your device settings.
To make any other privacy request, contact us at support@spotnik.xyz. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
6. Age Requirement
The Service is intended only for people who are 18 years of age or older. You must be at least 18 to create an account or use Spotnik.
7. Children's Privacy
Spotnik is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will delete that information and terminate the account. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@spotnik.xyz.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Data Transfers
We and our service providers may process and store your information in countries other than the one in which you live. Those countries may have data-protection laws that differ from yours. Where required, we take steps to ensure your information receives an adequate level of protection when transferred internationally.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
